Midlands & YorkshireWestfield Lane Wind FarmBetween Darrington and Wentbridge in Wakefield Site Status: A planning application was refused at committee in March 2009. We are awaiting the outcome of a public inquiry. The number of turbines has been reduced from 6 to 5. Local Authority: Wakefield District Council Banks Developments has identified the land between Darrington and Wentbridge to the west of the A1 as a potential site for wind farm development which would be capable of delivering renewable energy at a local scale. We have undertaken a detailed mapping exercise of Wakefield District and believe that the area of the Westfield Lane Wind Farm proposals is one of very few areas in the district that could accommodate a wind farm in an environmentally acceptable manner and help meet Wakefield's renewable energy targets.
