Key features of the proposed wind farm:
-
We are proposing the construction of between 4-6 wind turbines, each with a capacity of around 2 -3 megawatts (MW).
-
This could provide between 8-20MW of renewable electricity, or enough power for up to 8,400 homes.
-
Turbine dimensions are currently being assessed to achieve the optimum balance between energy production and visual impact. Tip heights of between 110m-140m are being considered for the site.
-
The wind farm would last for around 25 years, with around 12 months for construction and decommissioning.
-
The grid connection would be to a local substation by overhead cables on wooden poles or by underground cables.
-
Proposals are being considered for a Combined Heat and Power (CHP) facility in the adjacent Stillington Industrial Estate. A CHP facility can generate both heat and electricity from a range of fuel sources (eg. wood or biofuel) and can distribute the heat produced to local properties. This is a more sustainable solution to electricity and heat generation.
